One of the most important organs in our body is the liver, since it has the capability to transform toxins into waste, which is later removed from our body, through urine and feces.
As time goes by, the function of the liver weakens and thus, the liver is not capable of removing the dangerous toxins properly. When this essential function of the liver is hindered, the toxins are stored in fat cells and they are usually noticeable in the abdominal area.
What is fatty liver disease?
Since it is a fatty organ, the liver has to store some amount of fat at any time. However, when this amount is higher than normal, then it is affected by the fatty liver disease.
There are 2 types of fatty liver:
- Alcoholic liver disease
- Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease
Alcoholic liver disease appears as a result of too much alcohol consumption and the non-alcoholic fatty liver appears as a result of genetics or high cholesterol.
