Speaking about the condition of your urine is not a pleasant topic. However, doctors advise that it is of utmost importance to know what is the color of your urine, since this way you will be able to know if you are on a poor diet, dehydrated or you suffer from a certain disease.
The main components of urine are water and waste substances and often times, if things in your body are not in order, your urine might change color. The reasons for this can be different.
Urine color and your health
Firstly, you need to know that urine comes as a product of the kidneys and it represents a mixture of toxins and water that your body must remove. Based on the type of food you eat and the way your body works, you can either get rid of more urine at once, or at different periods of time.
Clear color urine
If your urine has a clear color, then you are well hydrated. You should continue drinking more water, so your kidneys are able to filter the urine much easier and give it a clear tone. This is a positive sign.
Intense yellow color
If your urine has an intense yellow color, it means that you must start drinking more liquids. Your kidneys are experiencing a large amount of toxic elements and you need to hydrate better in order to remove them.
Dark yellow color
If your urine has a dark yellow color, then you need to visit your doctor since it might be a sign of a problem in the liver or you are experiencing jaundice. Check your eyes and see if they also have a yellow tone.
Reddish brown color
If your urine has a reddish brown color it means you are having a problem with your kidney. Usually, it signifies that you have some kind of inflammation and that there are small traces of blood in your urine. This might also be a sign of kidney stones and that your urinary tract is being blocked by these elements.
Orange urine color
An orange urine might be caused by an excess of vitamin C. If this is the case, then your body will try to get rid of the excess vitamin through your urine which might result in this characteristic color. If you notice this kind of change in your urine, you need to reduce the vitamin C intake for a few days.
Blue urine color
If your urine is blue it means that you have a bacterial infection, or you have an excess of calcium in your body. This is usually the case with people who take vitamin supplements. Make sure you are not mixing your medications with the vitamin supplements you are taking.
Red urine color
Red urine can be a sign of two things. The first one is blood and the second one is harmless and related to food. If you have blood in your urine, you need to consult your doctor immediately. On the other hand, if it’s just a red color, not blood, then you need to lower your intake of beets, blackberries, or any other berries.
